Tips for Sellers

Thinking of selling your home? Here are a few tips to consider:

Note: Not all home preparation tips are universal. Everyone’s home is different and will require different amounts of effort to get ready to sell. I can help you decide what should be done.

Start by Hiring Me – You Need a Great Realtor®

Working with an experienced Realtor® makes for a smooth selling process and ensures you get the best value for your home. Selling a home is stressful, I help take the stress out of it for you rather than adding to it. Whoever you choose, it’s important to work with someone you trust to guide you through the process and help you every step of the way. Make sure they have sold homes similar to yours, they know the market like the back of their hand, and they have a solid marketing plan with which to promote your home.

Clean and Declutter

A clean home is inviting to buyers and maximizes the perceived space. If the home is dirty and cluttered, that draws the focus away from what people are really there to see. Make sure you do a deep clean and declutter! You may even consider a professional cleaning service or a professional organizer to make sure the house is spotless and ready to be shown. Clean homes sell faster and for more money.

Consider Painting

Chipped, scuffed, and stained paint makes a room look decrepit and poorly maintained, and dark paint makes a space look small. A fresh coat of paint can do a lot for a space, especially if you go with light, neutral colors. Not only are you appealing to the masses with contemporary colors, but fresh paint makes a house look much cleaner. And what did I say about clean homes? Clean homes sell faster and for more money!

Finish the Projects

If you have any incomplete home projects or repairs you’ve been putting off, get them done before you list the home. These will likely be noticed during showings, and if they start adding up, it could reduce the number of offers or even the offer amounts. This includes cleaning up the landscape, fixing a leaky faucet, and repairing a damaged deck. I can point these repairs out to you as I can offer a fresh set of eyes.

By far the most important thing you can do when selling a home is work with a great Realtor®, and I hope that will be me! I can give you tips to get your home ready that are specific to you and your home. Call me early in the process so we can get started and don’t have to cram projects in immediately prior to listing. I will walk you through every step of the process and tell you exactly what you need to do to have your home market-ready.
